| Go down to the Nazaré beach and marvel at the fishermen village with whitewashed houses, which extends down the slope to the sea and leaves no one indifferent. One can still observe the fishermen with their chess shirts and black trousers, mending fishnets close to their colourful boats. Let yourself be enchanted by the Nazaré women, who still preserve the tradition of wearing seven skirts. Worth visiting is the Santa Maria da Vitória Monastery also known as Royal Abbey of Santa Maria de Alcobaça, a magnificent gothic monument, UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the 7 Wonders of Portugal in 2007. |
